COVID-19 has affected a lot of things over the past few months, especially when it comes to our careers. Practices of the workplace have shifted dramatically. But, one thing that hasn’t changed is the sheer benefit you get from networking. Yes, the methodology has changed, but the core concept remains the same.

There are a few things to keep track of if you’re planning on networking from a distance. Let’s talk about them briefly.
Your Online Presence: One of the factors that decide whether or not a person will contact you back is your online presence. Social media might be a way to kill time, but in the times we’re living, it also acts as a way to verify credibility. If your online presence doesn’t portray professionalism, your contact won’t follow up.

Introduce Yourself: It doesn’t matter if one Google search will bring up your entire resume. You should always talk about who you are and what you do clearly. Write a short bio, talk about your job, and mention your skillset. Paint a picture for the targeted person, so they know the person behind the email.
Use Technology: The best way to streamline the way we conduct virtual meetups these days is to use apps like Skype, Zoom, Google Meet, etc. Once you finalize a time for the meeting, go ahead and send the contact a Calendar Invite with a Zoom link attached. These minor practices may not seem like much, but they make the process seamless.
